THINGS YOU WILL NOT NEED

Q What should I not bring?

A

1 Big bulky suitcases.

Please bring backpacks or soft bags as luggage storage is not available. Everything you bring will have to go on the bike

2 Illegal drugs of any kind.

On the subject of Alcohol and Narcotics

Japan has great beer and Sake, reasonably good whiskey and very average wines. The price of spirits is astonishingly cheap. Alcohal is available everywhere from convenience stores to vending machines. Its legal to drink in public and no one will give you a second glance if you do. If you like to have a few drinks you'll love it. HOWEVER, Japan also has a Zero drink driving limit and Zero tolerance for anybody caught over that limit. You will be jailed, fined and deported. As a foreigner you will be deemed a flight risk and so you will be denied bail. (Google Carlos Goshn, the ex Nissan CEO) This process will take anywhere from 3 – 12 months. We will not allow anybody to consume alcohol while we are on the road. When we have reached our days destination and parked the bikes then we'll join you for a drink or two.

Japan has a very conservative stance on Narcotics. Even a small amount of marijuana will get you a jail term and drugs like Methamphetamine will see you in a jail cell for a long time.

It doesn’t matter what the laws are in your country or what your own personal views are. Drugs are illegal in Japan and that’s all there is to it. In short, don’t even think about it. If you want to smoke weed on your holiday go to Thailand or Amsterdam.

3 Weapons of any kind.

Japan is probably the safest country in the word. You wont need any guns, knives or pepper spray. These things are all as illegal as the above mentioned drugs anyway.
